Hullabaloo Artist Megan Huffadine with jeweller Lynn Kelly are exhibiting at Form Gallery, 468 Colombo Street, Sydenham.
You are invited to "Verdant": an exhibition, a conversation.
Opening night: 5:30pm 5th September.
'Verdant': covered with grass, lush with trees and plants.
Verdant – a conversation:
Lynn: Megan and I have followed each other’s work for many years and both our work over the past years have developed from an enjoyment of historic botanical drawings.
I have always found working with another person exciting as it helps nudge me into new directions, often experimenting with ideas or media. It is interesting seeing the different directions each of our work takes from similar starting points.
Megan: Working with another artist, sharing ideas and responding to each other’s work and allowing that to feed back into these works has opened new possibilities in my work. These works are also a continuation of my interest in the use of plant imagery in textiles and surface design.
Verdant seems an appropriate title for an exhibition that is reflecting on the importance of plants and a world where deforestation is occurring with increasing rapidity. “The world lost more than one football pitch of forest every second in 2017, according to new data from a global satellite survey.” The Guardian Newspaper, June 2018.
