This year we are pleased to announce the winner of the Kay Todd Photography Award goes to Luci McDougall - Mt Aspiring College.
This particular piece of work is from a body of work telling a story of the demential effects of body image. My aim was to create awareness about mental illness such as depression and suicide in New Zealand, this was an important message as I have many close friends be in a position or close to suicide. I believe that hands are one of the most beautiful and important parts of the body as they tell stories and actions. In this particular sequence, it shows how the individual feels uncomfortable in their own skin, foreshadowing and hinting at the idea of self-harm.
