LORRAINE HIGGINS

PAINTING

Lorraine Higgins is a landscape and figurative artist who uses paint as a vehicle to express the tangible and non-tangible. Gestural spontaneous marks are directly applied from the tube, often scratched and scraped into the surfaces of paper, canvas, and board.

Lorraine lives and works in her studio-gallery space in Cromwell, Central Otago and her work is exhibited in Galleries throughout New Zealand.

She holds a BVA, Post Graduate Diploma in Teaching, and a Dip Min and has been awarded numerous Art Awards throughout New Zealand. She also writes poetry which informs her work.

Gerhard Richter once said, “Art is the highest form of hope.”
